The world be a very different place without the literature that has been written in it. This is true because literature is much deeper then just words on paper. Really, when you think about it, it is the intergration of ideas from different perspectives and over time these ideas/point of views build on eachother. The weak or unoriginal writers remain unpopular, while those who innovate new genuis ideas/stories are recognized. These outstanding pieces of literature are reckognized for their abillity to show or teach a reader something from a unique perspective. They also have resolutions with powerful morals that can completely change the way one thinks about a certain subject. One novel that has had a long-lasting impact in literature as a whole is Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. The reason why novels like this are still being read 50 years later is because they teach a significant lesson that is timeless. If a piece of literature is accurate in its idea of human nature this novel will always teach a significant lesson because human nature truely never changes. It is all in the word- nature. For instance, in Conrad's novel he speaks of the inhabitted evil in mankind while restraints and consequences are inexistent. This impacts a reader to believe that maybe people are just sophisticated beasts that, given the harsh curcumstance, man will do evil things without justification. This is a timeless concept given from Conrad's unique, outstanding point of view that proves literature to have a significant impact driven from the ideas of hard-thinking writers.
